After Dark: Terraform

Jun 18, 2026

All your favorite land types are here: tropical, forest, um... neon?

Not a Star Trek module, but you could almost imagine seeing some of these strange terrains on Star Trek. I just find this stuff pleasant to look at and the fun options like “neon” and “lunar surface” mix things up nicely. Another module you could set a vaporware album to.

You can select the "Repeat Size" which can make smaller images that just repeat if your computer back in the day couldn't quite handle producing a full-screen image in a reasonable amount of time. Not much of an issue on modern emulators of course. Idle time determines how long you'll be looking at each image before a new one is generated.

The "Terrain" button gives you a bunch of options. "Land" lets you decide what kinds of terrain will be generated and "Water" determines how much of it will just be bodies of water. I like to set both of these to random. "Clouds" on the other hand I always set to "Wispy" because I like a little bit of cloud cover, but I always want to be able to see what's below it. Then there are six land types that can be toggled on and off. Those are tropical, forest, tundra, moon, neon, and sky. I like to turn all of these on except for sky which just produces a blue, cloudy image that looks the same as the ocean option for water. I think this gives a nice mix.

That neon terrain is so deliciously trippy.
